GIJU Live on ESPN at
World Salsa Championships
UPCOMING EVENT!!
DECEMBER 15, 2007
We are proud to help promote the 3rd Annual World Salsa Championships
in Orlando, Florida - and Albert Torres Production - December 12 - 16th!
Albert is founder of Albert Torres Productions based in Los Angeles,
CA. We've come to know him as "The Father" of great Salsa events...the man
who paved the way as a premier promoter of high level global Latin
entertainment, and who continues to help performers push the envelope in
Latin style music and dance around the world.
The World Salsa Championships event, apart from being huge in scope,
is an impressive milestone for Albert as a pioneer in the evolution of the
international Salsa community. It is a true mark of accomplishment for a
man who has endured great challenge on the path to success.
We had a chance to catch up with Albert (his travel schedule would
make your head spin!)
Q: What keeps you ticking or inspired despite all the hardships and
hurdles that you have had to face in this ongoing effort of spreading the
love of Salsa around the globe?
A: Good question. It is the smiles and joy I see in the eyes of so
many worldwide when they experience the joy that Salsa brings into their
lives.
The chance of helping children. No matter their nationalities.. they
get to live a dream to dance on a stage in another country or go to
Disney-World. "Creating Unity through Salsa". Promoting peace through
Salsa. If we were all dancing.. there would be no wars.
This is what keeps me going. Lets keep it alive for future
generations.
Please join us in Florida for the event. Giju will be competing with
Salsamania in the Pro-Team division, as well as his live exhibition show
being performed to his title track - "Rang Rangeeli Yeh Duniya".
The live show which is being covered by ESPN, will be held during
finals on December 15, 2007.

GIJU Performs at SF
Salsa Congress
NOVEMBER 4, 2007
Attendees were treated to a sizzling hot show on Sunday night, when
Giju - accompanied by members of Salsamania - lit up the stage at SF
Congress in a spectacular and sexy first time performance of his Cha-Cha
hit "Dhoondun Tujhe", and spicy Salsa title track "Rang Rangeeli" - which
launched his Latin album's debut.
Albert Torres, global promoter of Latin music and dance, and beloved
icon of the world Salsa community introduced Giju to a full-house of
excited, screaming fans. Though many are from right here in the Bay Area,
it is thrilling to see the rapidly increasing growth of fans from around
the globe where word of Giju is spreading.
Albert described Giju's passion to steadily evolve the Salsa
experience and pioneering feat toward combining both his proven expertise
in dance as a principal member of the world-ranked Salsamania dance
company, and as a highly trained and accomplished vocal artist...the most
recent example being the development and success of his Latin cross-over
album release 'Rang Rangeeli".
Giju's versatility and talent has attracted the attention of not only
fans, but promoters and event hosts world-wide. With a world tour and new
video release planned for 2008, expect to see and hear much more in the
realm of Latin music and dance from our home-grown pop star!

Sleepless in
Seattle
Giju's Travelogue
I wasn't too keen about participating in the Seattle Salsa Congress,
primarily for two reasons – it was held over the Thanksgiving weekend, and
we were scheduled to perform three nights in a row! ... not to mention the
morning workshops - which meant, hardly any sleep for 5 days straight..!!
But in the end, it turned out to be a wonderfully memorable trip.
Performances went well. It was great to share the stage with teams like
Yamulee.
Got to meet some incredible dancers, namely Martin and Esti from LA.
By the way, they are going to take the World title in Caberet this
year.... that's my hunch. DJ Michelle was there as well. I hadn't seen her
in two years - since the first time we met at the 2005 UK Salsa Congress.
It was great spending time with her.
For me, the major highlight was the Saturday night after party, where
I got to jam with fellow World music artist, Vassili – another firm
believer in "unity through music" and the lead vocalist and guitarist of
"Children of the Revolution" (http://www.cotrmusic.com).
I was in the company of some good old friends and new ones. We were
joined by Griselle, Yesenia, John & Liz, Kris, Darci, DJ Michelle, Martin,
our friends from Oregon salsa scene..!!
It was quite a night..
I also got to hang out with my good friend Darci after a long time.
Brought back some good memories..!!!

Happy
Holidays!!
2007: In Retrospect and Greetings ~
This past year has turned out to be one of the most important years of
my life, having achieved some major milestones.
My debut album, which had been my dream project for years, got
released after years of hardships. I realize that the journey has just
started for me, but I'm very happy with the overall positive response I've
been getting from the industry as well as the public to my video and my
tracks.
After being part of SalsaMania for over 7 years, I've decided to part
from the company so that I could focus more on my music career. To say
that SM has been an integral part of my life all these years, would be an
gross understatement.
It has changed my life and molded my personality in a myriad ways. It
will be very difficult for me to adapt to "not" being in SM anymore... I'm
going to miss all of them very much. But on the bright side, I'll be
collaborating with them in a lot of my upcoming projects and I'm very
excited about that.
I wanted to wish all of you a very prosperous and blessed New Year. Be
strong, positive and loving. And follow your dreams and ambitions, whatever
they are, with a lot of zeal and conviction.
Check back in January for some exciting news! |
